 01  Will all applicants that apply win a scholarship?

​

  • You must apply to be considered for a scholarship.

  • Applying does not imply or guarantee that you will win a scholarship.

 

 02  Can an applicant win multiple scholarships?

​

  • Yes, applicants can win multiple scholarships, if they meet the scholarship criteria and are selected. Remember, you cannot win if you do not apply. Also, some scholarships will be bundled together.

​

 03  Can an applicant be disqualified?

​

  • If the applicant mails in an incomplete application, the applicant is disqualified.

  • If the applicant doesn’t mail all required materials in one envelop, the applicant is disqualified (i.e. application, transcript, picture, picture release form, etc. – see applications for complete details).

  • If the applicant doesn’t meet the eligibility criteria or eligibility requirements, the applicant is disqualified.

  • If the applicant doesn’t follow the instructions for the scholarship, the applicant is disqualified.

  • If the applicant misrepresents or provides false information, the applicant is disqualified.

  • If the applicant mails in multiple application packages for the same scholarship, the applicant is disqualified.

  • If the applicant is an immediate family member or employee of a scholarship sponsor, DACS Services L3C employee or scholarship committee member, the applicant is disqualified.

  • If the application packet is not received by the due date (or 1st day Post Office is open following due date if due date falls on Sunday or Post Office Holiday), the applicant is disqualified.

 04  What happens if an applicant is disqualified?

​

  • Applicants are disqualified from consideration, which means they will not be selected to win a scholarship. Disqualified applicants cannot reapply. Disqualified applicants will be notified no later than May 30.

 05  What are the scholarships’ required application materials?

​

  • Required application materials varies, please see application for details.

​

 06  Can Scholarship Sponsors or the sponsor’s immediate family or employee apply for scholarships?

​

  • Sponsors nor the sponsor’s immediate family or employee can apply for the scholarship that was sponsored. However, the sponsor’s immediate family member or employee can apply for other scholarships on this site, only if they meet the scholarship's criteria. Note: Applying does not imply or guarantee that immediate family or employee will win a scholarship.

 07  Can DACS Services L3C employees; scholarship committee; or their immediate family apply for scholarships on this site?

​

  • DACS Services L3C employees; scholarship committee; or immediate family can not apply for sponsored scholarships that are listed on this site. Employees, scholarship committee members, and their immediate family do not meet scholarship eligibility requirements.

 08  Who are considered immediate Family?

​

  • Immediate family is defined as a parent; sibling; child by blood, adoption, guardianship, or marriage; spouse; grandparent or grandchild. This also, includes spouse’s parent; sibling; child by blood, adoption, guardianship, or marriage; grandparent or grandchild.

​

 09  When are the scholarship officially opened to applicants?

​

  • November 1st

​

 10  When should applicants start applying for the scholarships on this site?

​

  • All scholarships for the academic year are available on November 1st

  • Application must be mailed and postmarked no later than February 1st

​

 11  What are the scholarships due date?

​

  • All scholarship applications must be mailed & postmarked no later than February 1st

​

 12  Will you notify applicants that do not win a scholarship

​

  • Yes, non-winners will receive an email letting them know they did not win a scholarship no later than May 30.

​

 13  How will scholarship winners be notified?

​

  • Winners will receive an email no later than April 25th letting them know they have been selected as a winner. Winners are required to respond by signing and submitting a signed Affidavit no later than April 30th.

​

 14  Where is the Affidavit located? Or, where can I find an Affidavit?

​

  • Affidavits will be emailed to scholarship winners.

​

 15  What is an Affidavit?

​

  • An affidavit is a statement of facts made under oath. In the statement, the person is making a promise that confirms the information included in the statement is true.

  • An affidavit is not required to to get notarized. Selected applicant must acknowledge agreement to the terms of affidavit and acceptance of scholarships by sending an acknowledgements & acceptance email to DACS.

 16  Why is an Affidavit needed?

​

  • DACS Services L3C uses the Affidavit to have the applicant make a promise that confirms the information that was provided to DACS Services L3C by the applicant is true.

​

 17  Will sponsors have access to my personal information?

​

  • Sponsors will receive an email notification naming all winners and the university they plan to attend in the Fall. Sponsors will receive this information no later than June 30th. This information will also be available on the website, social media platforms, press, advertisements, and promotions.

  • Sponsors will not have access to other personal information, unless, they are employees of DACS Services L3C.

 18  How will the check be disbursed to scholarship winners?

​

  • After the winner of the scholarships are notified; they must submit a signed affidavit (this will be emailed to all scholarship winners).

  • If the DACS Services L3C receives the signed Affidavit by the due date and the applicant is not disqualified a check will be mailed to the scholarship winner. The check will be payable to the applicant and applicant’s selected educational institution of attendance.  

  • Winners checks will be mailed no later than May 30th

 19  When will winners be posted on DACS Services L3C website?

​

  • No later than June 30

    ​

 20  What information will be posted about the winner on the company’s website, social media platforms, digital marketing, press, advertisement, promotion campaigns, etc?

​

  • The winners' name, attending educational institution, educational program (major, degree, certification, etc.), image, and amount of award will be posted and used.

  • Other information listed on application (personal information such as address will not be available)

     

 21  As a sponsor, when will I know who won the scholarship I sponsored?

​

  • Sponsors will receive an email naming the winner of their sponsored scholarship no later than June 30th.

 22  Is it illegal to offer race-based scholarships in the State of Michigan?

​

  • We at DACS Services L3C would like to offer a variety of scholarships, therefore, we encourage you to Sponsor a scholarship to aid us in serving all ethnicities.  As our motto states, we are “Doing All we Can to Serve”. Currently we offer non-race based and raced based scholarships. It all depends on our sponsor’s eligibility criteria. However, to simply answer your question, no it is not illegal to offer race-based scholarships in the State of Michigan. The Michigan Civil Rights Initiative (Proposal 2) bans the use of racial preferences in college admissions and financial aid at public colleges and DACS Services L3C is not a public college. Again, we hope you take this opportunity to sponsor a scholarship with your preferred criteria. For more information about sponsorship, please click on our Sponsor page.

 23  What are the Sponsor Scholarship Levels?

​

  • We offer five different sponsorship levels, which start at $100. If you are not ready to sponsor a scholarship, we encourage you to donate as little as $5 to our general scholarship fund. Consequently, anyone who donates at least $25 will be listed on our Donors page. Please click the following link to find out more about sponsored scholarships and general donations

 24  How much will it cost to sponsor a scholarship?

​

  • Beyond, the Scholarship Award amount, the sponsor agrees to pay a 10% administrative fee, which is used to cover the cost of selecting a scholarship recipient; managing, promoting, and distributing the scholarship; and offering the scholarship service. (Exception: Diamond Level Sponsorship pay a 5% administrative fee).

 25  Can an individual Donate without sponsoring a scholarship?

​

 26  Do donors have to pay a fee to donate?

​

  • We do not charge a fee for donations, however, Sponsors that establish a specific scholarship do agree to pay an administrative fee.

​

 27  What is the difference between a general donation and sponsored scholarship donation?

​

  • General donations start at $5 and do not gain the rights and privileges given to others that establish Sponsored Scholarships.

  • Sponsored scholarship donations, sponsored donations, or sponsored scholarships are established with a contractual agreement and at least a $100 donation.

​

 28  Can donors tell DACS how to use general donations?

​

  • No, DACS does that taxing job for you.

​

 29  Can donors donate to a specific Sponsored Scholarship?

​

  • Yes, the specific sponsored scholarship’s name must be included when you make your donation. If you are not the establishing sponsor of a specific Sponsored Scholarship, you are not given the rights and privileges of the entity that established the Sponsored Scholarship.

 30  Will general donors be added as a sponsor if they donate to a Sponsored Scholarship?

​

  • All individuals that donate at least $25 will be listed as donors on the Donors’ page.

  • Only the sponsor(s) that establishes a specific Sponsored Scholarship will be listed as sponsors.

​

 31  Can donors donate to a specific general scholarship (leadership, challenge or community)?

​

  • No, but donors can donate to specific Sponsored Scholarships

​

 32  Can donors select the recipient of a Sponsored Scholarship?

​

  • No, DACS does that demanding and difficult job for you. We promote sponsored scholarships; attract applicants; manage and collect applications; select a scholarship committee; unbiasedly score each essay; select the most qualified scholarship recipient; distribute the scholarship to the recipient; and announce the winner in a timely manner. Let us do these taxing task of selecting a winner for you.

 33  Are donations (general or sponsored) tax deductible?

​

  • No.

​

 34  Are donations (general or sponsored) refundable?

​

  • No. We thank you for understanding once we receive your donation, it is allocated to the scholarship services.

​

 35  Can graduate students apply for scholarships?

​

  • No. graduate students are not eligible for scholarships offered on this website.

​

 36  Is there an age requirement for DACS scholarships?

​

  • Yes, student must be 25 years old or younger.

​

 37  Are donations (general or sponsored) refundable?

​

  • No. We thank you for understanding once we receive your donation, it is allocated to the scholarship services.
